Metal is better organised and structured with technical guitar breaks etc where as to me punk is a noisy mess of "buzz saw" guitar blasts.

To me punk rock is as it started - a string of three cord hits inspired by the Kinks hit "you really got me going" and labelled "Punk Rock" by critics from the word Punk meaning 'unproffessional, poor quality'. This sound finally took its shape as a scene in lower Manhattan in clubs such as CBGBs which was then taken by McLaren (former manager of the NY Dolls) to London who invented the Sex Pistols. The Sex Pistols with their wild antics brought its attention to the world.

Metal on the other hand evolved from organised more technical hard rock getting louder and became genred "Heavy Metal". widly guitar breaks or hard chugging rythms, to me it is far less of a noise and does not sound a big mess.

I don't mind a few songs by the Ramones, The Sex Pistols or the Clash. I like some the newer crossover bands like MadBall & Sick of it all and some of the Celtic groups like the Pogues & Drop Kick Murphies. I quite like pop punk band The Offspring on a few of their albums like Smash & Americana. But that about it.

i got inhto metal through punk so it will always respect it.
although these days with whats considered 'punk' its a bit hard to.

its sad how good music gets corrupted by commercialism.

As far as I know, the Pogues aren't punk (rock) at all, but just folk... great folk btw

listened to punk in high school (the real stuff, Flag, Minor Threat, Misfits) and rediscovered metal in my 20s.

so, punk.

In Spain, all metalheads are a bit of punks, too.
My choice is... punk metal.

Try any thrash metal, as it's heavily influenced by punk

Some punk (the original stuff, not the poppy shite that passes for punk nowadays) is pretty good. But metal is way better, it does sound more structured compared to the chaotic sound of a lot of punk stuff.
