Covers are for people who can't write their own music, which is very common these days with newer bands copying old music/lyrics etc because of lack of talent!!! |

Stupid threads/questions/comments will receive similar responses from me.
NO, I don't think I'm TOO Metal. I just don't like people who THINK they're Metal and constantly post false and misleading information to other people who don't know much. Its a never ending cycle of Bullshit lies then. Nobody benefits.
Its common sense. If you don't know something, ask someone who does.

I totally agree, as when first learning guitar I did the same, but this scenario is different.
The thread how I understand it is a)the original b) the cover, and what you think is better. The original is always going to be better in my opinion, as somebody actually 'wrote and composed' the material. Any competant musician can emulate an already existant song, and yes, I agree that making money and fame off someone elses creation is a joke!
Write your own music for fuck sake!!!

It's always interesting to see what a band can do with someone else's song. Interesting to see how they can change it and make it their own.
Isn't that the point of doing covers in the first place? As well as, of course, showing an appreciation of the band who originally did said song?

If they play a cover at a gig, thats ok. But when they take things as far as re-recording a song, and taking credits for this, I don't support that. There is no reason to be recording and using someone elses song! In my opinion that shows laziness and a lack of skill or talent, or inability to compose a song.
Its all well and good if the only intention is for practice or gigging. This seems to be the minority these days, as people in these newer bands seems to be making their first break, and a lot of money, off a song someone else has wrote and composed. And I can't stand that! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
