Default Metsatöll

Ok i know they are not viking metal, but i didnt find the better place where to make this thread.

Estonian pagan/folk metal - thay mostly sing about ancient Estonians and how they fought against foreign conquerors in 12-13 century. They have released two full albums (if you dont count Mahtra Sőda wich was a folkproject with Tsődsőpujaleelo) "Terast mis hangund me hinge" and "Hiiekoda" - the first one was with pretty low quality so they decided to re-record it and it is going to be released in 11th November. Theyr latest album "Hiiekoda" is really great - i guess it would be more effective if one could understand the lyrics also. But the album contains 18 folk songs - i guess you should listen some songs to understand what Metsatöll really is.

Saaremaa vägimees (The Giant-Hero of Ösel)
Hundiraev (The Wrath of the Wolf)

They are really great, even if you don't understand the lyrics (I don't). Their folk metal is beautifuly inspired and is really worth trying (at least on the last album). Moreover, they sold more albums in Estonia than Britney Spears !! ok, the comparison isn't excellent, but it proves that Estonian peoples aren't brainless. Thanx Estonia.

Most famous estonian metal band - even not-metal listeners listen them time to time - dont know if it is good or bad, but thats true. People like folk music in Estonia and Metsatöll is not an exeption.

Terast mis hangund me hinge 10218

Yesterday 11.11. was the presentation of theyr latest album Terast mis hangund me hinge 10218. The concert was great, the crowd went totally crazy.
The CD came with a leather package that is pretty new in Estonian metal scene. The songs are all almost the same as on the first Terast mis hangund me hinge release (1999) with one bonus track Oma laulu ei leia ma üles. Of course the production is superb and cant be compared with the first release - it is so powerul, clean instruments/vocals and also cant miss the superb folk music. And also cant be without mentioning that the cover CD picture is taken by my girlfrient in Hard Rock Laager (the biggest summer metal festival in Estonia). So if you like folk music you must get this release!!
