Re: Ensiferum anybody I actually went to the last day of this years New England Metalfest just for the Paganfest lineup. I had to suffer through a constant slew of shitty metalcore bands, but finally my time came, and holy shit was it worth it.
Eluveitie- I was hesitant about this band. I moderately enjoy their albums, but I feel myself getting bored after a handful of songs. Complete opposite live. Energetic and entertaining. The best way I can describe it was like a party.
Tyr- Going from the folkish party atmosphere of ELuveitie to the droning chants of war of Tyr was a very hard transfer. That may have been why I was so dissapointed with them. I enjoy their music, I just felt it didn't transfer well to a live setting. Or It may have been that Turisas was next and I just wanted them to play haha.
Turisas- What a treat seeing these guys live. Sadly, Warlords mic was fucked and I could only hear him when he yelled. So the only singing was from the bassist and guitarist. Oh well, didnt change the fact that Warlord's presence was overwhelming. Sadly, they didn't play as torches rise, but seeing To Holmgard and Beyond was surreal.
Ensiferum- I love this band, but was unsure whether they could compete with the energy of Warlord and crew. I'm just gonna say they stole the show. They just put on a very awesome show. Seeing Jari would have been amazing, but Lindroos did not dissapoint at all. HE is a perfect replacement for Jari. They really got the crowd going. They opened with Iron, which pretty much let you know they were there to kick your ass. |
