There is so much energy in their music and all there videos, it's hard to imagine that the shows wouldn't completly kick ass as well

I'm really hoping I can see them supporting Slayer in Cardiff in November. Wanted to see them when they were supporting Dimmu Borgir last year, but had to miss it

I guess I see them as a bit of both, melodic death and Viking metal, but you could also describe them as 'battle metal'...

Not heard an awful lot by them though. I only own their two most recent albums. I've noticed that their lyrics are a bit repetitive, but the brilliance of the music, and their passion for what they're talking about, more than make up for that

Melodic death metal imo, maybe more of fusion between the genres on early albums but current output is pretty much melodeath with a viking-based lyrical theme.

Not that that is bad, Amon Amarth are one of the only Melodic Death metal bands I've grown fond of tbh, not my favourite subgenre, but Amon Amarth (especially early albums, The Avenger etc) are great, and put on an awesome live show. Definitely one of the better big names right now!

Exactly. This is my point. A lot of bands with the problem of repetitive lyrics would struggle to survive for longer than an album or two, because it would be too easy for people to go off them. But Amon Amarth can get away with it because everything else about them just works brilliantly; I especially love the passion for all the Viking battles that they portray. I'm not sure exactly how many albums they've brought out, but if the repetitive lyrics thing has been going on since their early days, then it's a fucking good thing they are otherwise incapable of putting a foot wrong.
