Alien is a blend of so many different genres I don't even think that SYL knows what they play anymore. I mean, I see Industrial, I see Metal, I see Grind... it's confusing is what it is. I think it's an awesome album and my favorite song still has to be "Love?"

I agree that it is a blend of many different styles but I put it here based on what people lump them as because of their album City. The album SYL I thought even had some death/black metal sounding parts. Alien definately is a great album and I agree Love is the best track on the album.

Oh, no. I definitely agree that SYL is primarily an Industrial band with heavy metal influences (not the genre, just stressing the influence). With releases like City and even SYL itself, they really have made a name for themselves across a few genres of music.

thus, keyboards were nullified and acoustics were kept to a bare minimum, hence, for no reason other than to do something different than what was done previously.I don't have any track from this new records,i just want that the creator of this topic give me some hired stuff.thanks

I quite liked Alien, I've liked SYL for quite a while and I think they are getting Thrashier with every release. I think HAARHT and City were better than Alien, but Alien is better than SYL (the album). I like all of their stuff though. The same goes with most of Devin Townsend's (the band) stuff.

Open your mind...did Alien make full of great melodic leads, tight and variable play, strong melodies, a lot of drive and the rough vocals of as the fronter of Syl, which never get too harsh, though, and a calm keyboard/piano interlude including some lead guitars very effectively break through the intensity.

@linchpin75: Yes, No Sleep 'Till Bedtime sure sounded great

@beyond serenity: Hey, I didn't say that Alien was bad. I quite like it, I just don't think it was as good as their old amazing efforts.
