I enjoy listening to Manson. I like his eccentric and and unique appearance, as well as the overall visual style to his concerts and appearances. He's defenitely a character, a character that I enjoy. He's different, he mixes things up, and in my opinion is similar to a modern day Alice Cooper. His music's fresh and has dark, morbid, or simply strange themes and overtones, and I like that about it.
I mean think about it, Alice was a shock rocker. His performances were all about the shock value and being bizarre and strange. His band started out wearing makeup dressed like women, that's where he got the eye makeup from, and where his image came from. Marylin Manson takes a similar approach. He's all about the shock, the completely odd and bizarre, being out there. You know, a lot of rockers and early metal-heads back in the day said Alice was a homo and such, that didn't stop him from becoming a popular rock legend.
I don't necissarily think Manson is metal, his music I think fits more into the rock category. Regardless, I still enjoy his music. And if you take it from a scholarly standpoint, Metal is actually a sub-category of Rock. So Manson may not be Metal, but Metal is rock, therefore they cannot be seperated entirely.
