Default Greatest Fear Factory Album

I'd say Demanufacture. That record kicks so much ass, it's unbelievable. The record is in my top 5 of favorite albums of all time.

Soul of a new machine is an excellent album to me. The rest is crap imo. So my vote goes for SOANM

how could you say the rest is crap? you like syl right? well they are pretty much fear factory's little brother. syl sounds alot like fear factory. syl is basically demanufacture era fear factory but just faster and with a different singer.

I do love Strapping Yound Lad, indeed, but I can't bear what Fear Factory did after Soul of a new machine. I understand what you say when you compare these bands, but I don't think SYL are so 'modern-oriented'. Demanufacture bores me a lot while SYL sounds great to me... I mean that I find SYL more complex, with better song structures and more energy. Fear Factory used to have this energy on their first album, I believe they lost everyhting on the second album and became just another American band to me.

Well, maybe it's quite subjective, I don't know, but that's what I feel.

just another amrican band? hardly anything sounds like demanufacture. except syl and meshuggah. that album is like an industiral version of meshuggah and i hope your not comparing that album to korn or anything. demanufacture is one of the best things ever put to tape. how could you just say that with a staight face. fear factory is one of the most distictive sounding bands ever. hell if it wasnt for them i bet syl wouldnt exist cause face it. syl is basically demanfacture just faster and louder. hardly anything holds a candle to demanufacture. i seriously think you need to go to A.A. and fast.

I agree with Seb. I don't mind Fear Factory's Industrial stuff, but I much prefer Soul Of A New Machine. I also agree that SYL is better. Fear Factory is heavy, but SYL has that level of extreme aggression that FF doesn't have.

I don't compare Fear Factory with Korn or anything like that and I agree with the fact that it's quite a unique and original band. What I mean when I say that it's just another american band is that, like many other bands from the US, it sounds quite 'flat' and uninteresting while being a bit overrated since Soul of a new machine which was a real musical revolution.
