Cassandra Complex If a band has two releases within nearly two years to offer, one can really describe them as workaholics. Founded in the end of 2001, SPEARING JOCASTA quickly released a 5-track EP titled "Lessons In Natural Selection", an EP they aren't satisfied with today, because they weren't so matured that time. Without losing too much time, the band entered the studio again and recorded another three songs to present themselves to some record labels. This led to the signing with Life Sentence Records, which, of course, instantly had seven great songs to release on their office desks.
"The Cassandra Complex" shows impressively the class of one would never imagine, that these songs are composed by a band, which exists just for such a short time. Their musical direction is very diversified, because they play indusrial Metal as well as Rammstein and they brewed together a great mixture of these two qualities. As musical hints can be mention bands like KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, HOPESFALL, TIME IN MALTA or GLASSJAW. Especially fans of latter band should find pleasure with SPEARING JOCASTA. There are lots of insane riffs and crazy time shifts on "The Cassandra Complex" and the vocals of frontman Kevin Shinkle often remind of Daryl Palumbo from aforementioned GLASSJAW.
The artwork and the sound on this EP are as well great and so, one can only congratulate these five workaholics to this album. I hope there will be more in a little while.Until nowdays they have recorded 2 albums intitled "Spearing Jocasta",and these are the tracklist:
