Just the style at the time. I love old-school, though I agree there maybe is something a little homo-erotic about leather trousers/pants. Still do Iron Maiden, Judas Priest or even say Bathory remind you of hair metal when they wear leather? Hell even Graveland and Mayhem do/did and I don't think you could say they remind you of a hair metal band! 8O

I think the way Venom looked fitted their music! They dressed in black, had spikes and were into inverted crosses and bullet belts. Amazing band in every way!
