Anyway I guess the issue of those kinds of genres in the metal forums is all cool now? Can we assume emo/nu-metal/metalcore will be put in the non-metal subforum if people feel the need to talk about it? |

| | Re: Emo, Nu-Metal etc. . . I think that these genres are very relevant. Nu-metal is a genre within metal. Perhaps it's about showing others the different genres there are around or within metal. You may be surprised, but on emo forums they talk about metal. Have an open mind, else you just look ignorant. I had to go to another forum to report some facts. I am happy to say that i am learning more all the time. If this thread becomes "all the same" then i will lose interest in contributing to it. Keep it moving and keep it fresh. |

| | Re: Emo, Nu-Metal etc. . . But none of those are metal subgenres... I don't see what the problem with talking about non-metal in the non-metal forum is? Isn't that what it's there for?
If people want to talk about slipknot or avenged sevenfold they can create a topic in the non-metal section, just like they would if they wanted to talk about the beatles or Pink Floyd. And glam metal... (It's not just biased against nu and emo and "core")
Musically, and in terms of attitude nu-metal is not a valid metal subgenre, and has far more in common with rapcore and mainstream rock music of the time. End of. Not being seen as metal isn't necessarily a bad thing, so I don't see why we are still having this issue. And this isn't me just being elitist, I like System of a Down and Serj's side project musically, but there's no way I'd ever put it under a metal section... And I'd probably report the OP if someone did.
The OP just showed frustration at randomly lumping these in with metal, which is understandable to be fair, as this crap goes on everywhere, all the time. If people are going to start talking about slipknot in the "thrash metal" section then we may as well start talking about Britney Spears in the Black metal section. This thread is about drawing the line at the correct place.

| | Re: Emo, Nu-Metal etc. . . Well alot of thats opinion though... Except for emo, but in the end its still opinion. I would consider them metal, not necessarily good types of metal, but metal nonetheless.
Nowhere have I seen a clear line between what is metal and what isn't. Alot of people say AC/DC isn't metal, while more say the opposite, the same goes for slipknot, and nu-metal, etc. etc. |

| | Re: Emo, Nu-Metal etc. . . Music is such an opinionated thing and something that is about interpretation. So what one person might call metal, another might call emo. I personaly think that some (note that I mean some and not all) of the "nu metal" bands are legitimite (sp?) metal bands, but I'm not going around trying to cause trouble saying that they are totally metal and if you disagree then you suck. I believe some of the nu metal bands are metal. But I'm not stupid enough to go into the thrash metal forum and say that Slipknot is the best thrash band, because they aren't thrash. |

if their into emo AND metal or nu-metal and other forms of metal
then thats up to them,
this is a forum is called METALthrone and whether you like emo or nu metal as well as metal does it really matter?
i mean come on we're sounding like arrogant narrowminded .... idk
especially that menalaygor guy blugh did he give me shit
i am into a WIDE range of alternative music and that DOES include metal,
infact most of it is metal, but just becuase i also like nu-metal or emo doesnt mean i cant come on the site does it?
he gave me shit for ages for simply having a wider music taste than him
