I like Thergothon and the other cool crushing stuff from Finland such as Unholy and Skepticism. diSEMBOWELMENT are also amazing, although they may be a little closer to doom/death, but they were influential on funeral doom!

I admit that I like funeral doom. Shape of Despair, for example. Or Until Death Overtakes Me.

I also recommend Esoteric. Their latest "Subconscious Dissolution into Continuum" is amazing.

Funeral doom was actually most favourite at a time, particularly Thergothon. Both the theme and the music. Lovecraft and Tolkien have indeed inspired a lot many bands.

I really like funeral doom, but to me it just sounds like really slow death metal.

Well, there are doom/death bands, but I don't think funeral doom has got anything in common with death metal.

Me too.. Funeral doom is atmosphere.. death metal usually isn't.

Funeral Doom is the heaviest form of music. Its nowhere close to death metal as a genre .

The bands i like are Thergothon , Winter and RuneMagick amongst others.
