Totally true, but Carcass in all their records have some deep grindcore influances...please listen to "Rot'N'roll" or "keep On rotting In The Free World"

not really. those songs are basically just hard rock. the fact they have 'rot' in the title doesn't make them grindcore.

hmmm i see...there's some folks that adjudicate only from appearances and you know basically that appearances are deceptive in some cases.Carcass and precisely Jeff Walker has named this track Rot'N'Roll just because he would reply to Yngwie Malmesteen who named the original track Rock'N'roll as well as replying to "The Cranberies" for "Wake up and smell the coffee"to"Wake up and smell the Carcass".In other wise,Rot'N'Roll is a grind/death song.

well I just read the whole thread, and just about everyone is right, Carcass are more Death than anything, only the early stuff was grind. The only thing that I disagree with is that Swansong was hard rock. it's not nearly as heavy as all the albums before it, but it's still Death in my opinion.

Swansong is at millions light years away from grindcore !!! Hey, it's a mix of thrash, death and heavy metal. This album is excellent but have nothing to do here ! Post this thread in thrash or death section. !
It's less grind than their previous albums, but one cannot deny that it still grinds, if a little bit slower. In other words I'm not calling swansong a grindcore album, but rather death/thrash album with elements of grindcore.

Recently saw Carcass at Hellfest. The band of the weekend by far and played classics from all albums though i wouldn't consider anything from Swansong a classic. Even Ken made an appearance, if only a brief hello and introduction. Definitely a fantastic moment.

Swansong is a turd of an album. IMO, they never topped Symphonies Of Sickness.
