People have this belief that if your mainstream than automatically as an underground listener it must suck...which is not only ignorant but it makes the person sound like a snob.
What do you think every bands goal is when they decide to start playing??? To be succesful, rich, popular whatever... nobody says yeah I want only a few loyal fans to know about us and I hope we starve everyday, make no money and never be able to retire. Don't get me wrong a lot of mainstream music is garbage but don't get caught up in this underground belief that all mainstream music is garbage. Black Sabbath is known by everybody...your telling me they suck? Iron Maiden? Judas Priest? Slayer? Pantera? Metallica?
Don't hate on a band because they worked hard an became successful. Now if they change their sound completly like Metallica and it sucks like St. Anger than you have a reason to bitch.

Well Here in USA I hate all mainstream shit. but here maistream is difernt I see cause here no one knows Hammerfall Rhapsody Manowar, or really anything that might actually be considerd real metal.

I think tis guy does have a point.When you first start to listen to metal,you mostly have to start with the maistream bands.Then slowly you 'progress' to the underground domains..Listening to Mainstream bands doesn't make YOU a poser ;though I agree many posers do listen to these bands,but if the music is good it should be of no problem to the real metalguys.IRON MAIDEN,MEGADETH,EARLY METALLICA ,JUDAS PRIST are great bands.I hope Im clear here.

I used to think garbage like Limp biskit and Lincoln Park, Korn ect... was just an American thing but I traveled to Austria this summer and my cousins were both into Lincoln Park and other American crap...so it's not just us...people are into that crap all over the world...which is sad.

I can listen to Cradle of Filth, but have no interest in the last two albums. I really like their older stuff - I even have a few demos from before they were pumping out albums.


But, at the same time.. if a band doesn't change their style, they get boring. So band's change. They come and go. Like people you meet every day.

It's better to make some good music and then stop than making bad music after that. Like Thergothon, they have just 1-2 albums, yet they are immortal in the Doom Metal field.
