| | Re: Parental reactions to your music Hi, New here, so thought id say hi and deliver my first post.
My mother and father are both approaching their 60's now. I only actually got into metal as it were when I met my now best friend at the ages of 14, beforehand i didnt really listen to music at all. In fact, its wasnt even metal to start with. I started listening to Greenday and shortly after Blink 182 and the like (i know i know) and eventually as i progressed through banks like Blink, i started to try out other acts, gradually getting heavier and heavier.
My parents dont really take much notice of the stuff i listen to. My dad is half deaf anyway so it doesnt really effect him. He is however into rock anyway. He is a massive fan of bands like Queen, Quo, Beatles, Dire Straits etc, and even liked certain bands like Motorhead and Sabbath so rock and metal is no new thing to him. My mum is into your typical ballad songs with a little rock etc thrown in from time to time. So Ive had no real issue with my parents in this respect.
I had mostly got stick from school people way back when i was in school who say i was into the whole devil worship thing and even had a rumour go around that i slaughtered a pig in a field lol. Funny really as i dont tend to dress as if im into death metal etc. So yeh, parental reactions were fine for me. Just other ignorant bastards out there that got me! |

| | Re: Parental reactions to your music My parents never cared what I listened to. My step dad was a biker/trucker and he was the one who started me out.
But on the other hand, I didn't attend my first concert until I was almost 20 because my mother was always frightened I would be raped, murdered and left in a ditch.
But, I have made up for my lacking years!

| | Re: Parental reactions to your music Haha, I was nearly 22 when I went to my first gig. I've only seen a few bands, but unfortunately they were all the mundane bands. And the last gig I went to was February...last year. That's what comes of being poor, and living in a place deprived of good music

I sorry. I guess I should count my blessings that I live only an hour away from good shows. Especially since I shall be moving up to that spot within the next month and a half.
