Many times there're ppl that post in a thread w/o give an opinion 'bout it. The result is a conversation gone to hell and a interesting thread stopped.

Some of us can smell a troll better than others. People that are not really into metal come on these forum to suck energy and gather statistics from unsuspecting metalheads. You feed right into their game.

A real metalhead will stick around to discuss metal music. A troll will get discouraged and take off.

Wrong. Trolls are not easily discouraged, well, not the ones I've encountered. They are extremely persistent, coming onto the forum simply to iritate the fuck out of eveyone. And if you ban them, they simply create a new account and return with a persona even worse than the last one they used

Spam bots are equally irritating; a metal forum I used to be on had to be shut down because it got so riddled with spam that people didn't want to log in anymore, and the moderators couldn't keep up with deleting it all, either.

Why do these stupid fucks enjoy pissing us off so much?!

Spam bots can be taken care of with the proper security software but many forum owners won't bother with the expense. Troll spotting is a group effort.

Yeah, and so is bullying the trolls! The ones I've encountered get the absolute living shit ripped out of them. The resulting arguments are often really childish, but always highly amusing. Not to mention very satisfying when the troll runs off crying to his mummy, when he can't hack any more of the abuse - sorry, truth - being hurled in his direction
