| | Blabbermouth/RSS news Maybe we should have down the side (under Random Headlines) an RSS of Blabbermouth? It'd get used quite a bit, I reckon. |

| | RSS... It's an XML file (I think) that all you do is add the XML file link (say.. roadrunner.com/blabbermouth/rss.xml) to your RSS reader (i'm sure there would be one for the forum) and when they update their news, it updates automatically here. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/bla...t/rssfeed.aspx |

| | think of it this way:
there is ONE central file that gets updated by Blabbermouth everytime they add a news post. this is called an RSS file
these RSS readers load the RSS file into a format that can be read by browsers, with links to the original news article, a short blurb, etc.
We put a RSS reader as a plugin on the side of the page. We never have to update it, as it does it automatically, with all news that Blabbermouth posts (as you might know, is updated a few times a day) |

| | So it's like an attachment thingy and you can go somewhere else in the site and view some details or something? Who else does it?

That's the file i mean. it gets updated, and your "reader" just puts that file into a readable format |

| | Agreed, this tool is used by thousands of metalzines including blabbermouth's staffs. It's something like "Newsletters".
But trust me, try to use "Thunderbird", (just with Firefox),this will allow you to recieve news directly from band's website with no effort...just like what Blabbermouth does actually.
Strongly recommended.

But, you can most probably get a plugin for these forums to read it.. and place it on the side bar (underneath our current news) | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
