Default Learning Black Metal Vocals

Alright, im 14 and tommorow im going to properly start learning and practising black metal vocals. (I have tried for about a day then i forget about it.. so this time its real). Bare in mind I dont want to do DEATH metal screams only BLACK. Yeah I know its not gonna come easy. But if theres any tips you can give me without any bullshit. I'd be real happy

Influences (AKA what im kinda aiming for)

Immortal - Abbath
Burzum - Varg
Gorgoroth - Gaahl

I think it all depends on how naturally deep your voice is. If you're more high pitched, then try for Burzum or Dimmu Borgir. If you're deeper, then try for Abbath (although he's gotta be hard to replicate).

I guess if you want a real challenge, try to replicate ICS Vortex from Dimmu Borgir's Operatic Falsetto pitch. There's maybe 1 out every 100 people in the world that can reach that high of a pitch. (even though his vocals aren't really Black Metal and are more traditionally Power Metal style.)

I'm no music expert by all means, so that's my dimestore advice.

Yeah i've been struggling to figure out if my way is a good way. I use my diaphragm (i guess thats what i use) to push air through my throat and then shape the sound using my mouth. Usually it makes my throat hurt a little and sometimes even after one song i can't do it anymore. I contacted Narrenschiff from the band Illnath to see how he does it (cuz his screams are fucking amazing) and he said to do it a different way but i have no idea how he does it...i can't seem to figure it out. Let me know what your ways are of doing it.

I looked at your solo project and i'm listening to one of the songs currently. The screams are decent. i see that you're actually using your voice...unlike me, i push air through my throat to get a rasp...not an actual scream. oh and i noticed you're using Guitar Pro for the drum sounds. i would recommend trying this program - Rhythm Rascal - Software Drum Machine Program it's good for freeware, the only thing you have to do is when you want to record a drum track into a program, if you have a stereo mixer built into your computer, you can just use that to record the sound from that into whatever program you use. if you don't have a SM, you need to get two adapters that go from a 1/4" to an 1/8" and then use a 1/4" guitar cord to take it from your speaker jack to your line in jack. then just press record and record it into your program. thats only if you don't have a stereo mixer though. good luck...i also have a BM solo project entitled "Blasphemous Requiem". MySpace.com - Blasphemous Requiem - BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania - Black Metal / Black Metal / Black Metal - www.myspace.com/blasphemousrequiem The songs on the myspace page aren't that great...except for the Dimmu cover (which has no vocals yet). if you look at it add me and tell me what you think.

I can do death metal vocals pretty easily, but Black metal vocals are 10 times harder and painful to do.
