Re: Johan Hegg(Amon Amarth)or Mikael Åkerfeldt (opeth)? Hegg because unlike so many other bands within different genre's that sing about Viking lore and Norse mythology, Hegg's vocals ACTUALLY FIT the concept of the band: Vikings.
Vikings were brutal, monstrous people, and, if one is to sing about them in the first person (as many AA's songs are written) one should SOUND the way a Viking warlord likely would have sounded. With Hegg, you can imagine going back to 800 A.D and seing him command a Pillaging Battalion of Vikings. That's why he goes over Akerfeldt.
Plus, Opeth is severely overrated, IMO. People claim they're this "life changing band" but I have yet to hear a song from them that's memorable. |
