hi guys this is my first post here, i dont agree with drinking coke to warm it, the sugar in it will stick the little tiny hairs on your voice box down and affect your singing, the only drink you should really drink is room temp water, there are lots of different opinions on screaming by different people, some say it will destroy your voice or affect your clean vocals, this isnt true at all, when you scream it uses a different part of your voice all together, my only advice when learning to scream is to never push your voice to a level where you feel uncomfortable. The voice is like a muscle though, the more you use it the more it strenghtens, when i first started out my limit was 3 songs and i was knackered, over the years it developed and now doing a 9 song set 5 nights a week isnt a problem, best of luck with the screaming dude, would love to hear some stuff when you get it up |

| | Re: Help with screaming I agree with most of the tips here, warm up is the key to not screwing up your cords. I almost fucked up my cords by singing ACDC - Highway to Hell with death grunts and screams at the Zentarim Metal Fest... WARM UP KIDS!!! |

This is what i sound like http://youtube.com/watch?v=slCaAiW2dp4 | Can't even tell whats your voice over the vocal effects! Sounds if anything to me way over effected, to much echoe and reverb, so fairly generic Black Metal vocals. Sorry.
In my opinion, good Black Metal vocals are Ynelborgaz from Angantyr, or Hoest from Taake. They just have kick arse power, not drowned in effects. |

| | Re: Help with screaming The echoe effect was MASSIVE dude! Sounded like he was at the end of a massive tunnel. I couldn't hear much power in the vocals because of that, and the reverb was fairly high too.
In saying that, I didn't say it sounded bad. Just generic, or fairly straight forward, standard vocals. This also, is only my opinion, and it is no where NEAR as effected as what some bands use, eg, Leviathan, but I think really echoey, reverby or distorted vocals go more with that style of music. I think his vocals would have suited a different song
Listen to some Angantyr and you will hear what I mean when I say a more 'natural' Black Metal voice. |

"Schattenheer" in my opinion just do it much better! I love Malthokks vocals in that, and in Myrkwid! Hes a fucking talented dude! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
