Default Your Guitar Sound.....

What is the key to "Your Signature Sound"? ....or "Sick-Tone"? Pickup's?...Amp?....Effects?...Playing Style?....String Gauge/Tuning?
Please elaborate....
The key to mine is: Ernie Ball (.011-.054 gauge) strings tuned down to C (not drop-C!), and the Gibson TI pickup in combination with a Digitech MM distortion and moderately "scooped" midrange.

im a strong beliver that theres no such thing as a "signature tone" ,, any electric guitar can sound the same as some other guitar through effects.

In a way, you have a valid point....because I can use my friend's guitar, hook it up to my "chain", and it will sound like me playing my usual main axe....almost. His has a stop tailpeice, and mine has a strat-type trem (which'll slightly affect sound).
The way I play....the way you play can be very different . This also has an effect on the final sound.

Pretty picky w/ Tone

Peavey 5150 2
Marshall 1960 cab

Gibson Explorer w/ Emg 81

i use 52-10 strings

Dunlop .5 Tortex Jazz picks - man they fucking own

I usually like playing in the key of A harmonic minor, when writing leads and melodies, but with regular rythem riffs i usually just do what i think sounds good.

I strongly Disagree, i have a Epiphone and a Gibson, and theres a big differance in tone between the 2, i dont even enjoy playing my Epiphone, you cant say that a Strat with single coil pickups w/effects through a amp is going to sound the same as a Gibson Les Paul, with EMGs or Seymour Duncans....And as for Signature tone goes, well if you dont have a preferance to your tone then you must not care if you sound like shit or not.

For solo, I have my gain at 5. Treble: 6 Mid:6 Bass: 4 in the "Solo" line.

A big key in getting your signiture sound is a good head/cab combo, and most importantly a really great EQ. With a really nice EQ you can fine tweak your effects to get that signature sound that is unique to your own.

I have a Schecter 7-string with the Low E downtuned to D and the low B string detuned to either A or G (depending on my mood).

As for playing, I have either reverb or chorus (maybe both) on, with the EQ like this: Treble-10 Mid-10 Bass-5 with the UK effect (I can switch between US and UK). Always overdriven. Thats on my Kustom amp.

On my Jackson Warrior, I use GHS Zakk Wylde Low-Tune Boomers .70-.11. I tune to BEADF#B. The guitar came with Duncan Detonator pick-ups which are good stock pick-ups, but I switched the bridge pick-up to a Dimarrzio (pardon my spelling) X2N. I used to simply use a Boss Metal Zone, but switched to a Digitech Genesis 3 for both recording and live. I used to swear by miking all guitars, but the amp mods sound just as good as long as you know how to set them, otherwise they do seem processed.
