Default Guitar Help

My fiance recently bought me a Jackson RR3. Its a beautiful guitar. My only complaint is.. its way too hard to tune. I have no problem tuning normal guitars, but the lock in screws (no, I really don't know the name) have been fucking with me all day. I'll tune my guitar to say.. B. The notes register that they're in tune. I strum and its the furthest thing away from being in tune. It literally takes me 15+ minutes of bitching and complaining to finally get it somewhere where I want it. Is there ANY easy way to tune these guitars? I'm really getting fed up with taking 15+ minutes to tune a guitar that I probably won't play for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Its a very nice guitar once its in tune. I just hate sitting there for what seems like an hour trying to tune the damn thing. It took me almost 20 minutes last night just to get it into standard D.

Thanks for that article, though. I'm really an idiot when it comes to guitars/guitar parts.

Do they possibly make an RR3 WITHOUT the Floyd Rose shit?

First they're called Machine Heads.

If the guitar is new, the strings will be also, which means they'll fight back for a few days before they'll stay in tune for more than 2 seconds.

String quality is an issue, You might try purchasing some Ernie Balls to do your (really very nice) guitar justice.

Also it may be the Machine Heads themselves are loose, and if you're not comfortable tighning them yourself, go to your nearest music store, I'm sure they'll help out.

Heat is also a issue with strings. If it's partically hot there at the minute you don't stand a chance of keeping your guitar in tune with strings.

I'd rather not touch the guitar. I don't even feel comfortable breathing on the damn thing I love it so much. I'll probably take it to a guitar store and have them check it out sometime.. I managed to get it tuned to standard D last night to play some Death tunes. So, i'm happy for the time being.

I'm just dreading the moment I decide to down tune to Bb

How do the jacksons play?

I've got an Ibanez ST200 which plays like the sweetest dream, it really is the best guitar I've heard, but it's just to heavy.

My standard axe is a Gibson Explorer, which has served me well, but I'm after something better before I have to start buying christmas presents, and I was looking at a rather gorgeous ESP, but I hear good things about Jackson all the time.

Well, this is the first Jackson I've actually played. I've usually stayed true to the B.C. Rich (mostly because I couldn't afford anything better). Minus the pain in the ass tuning problems it sounds beautiful and looks beautiful as well. You may want to ask a pro musician their opinion. I'm just a casual player, but based on my little experience with this guitar I love it.

Here's how mine looks.

I originally wanted a B.C. Rich Stealth like Chuck Shuldiner played, but thats like looking for a needle in a haystack. So, I went with this (thanks to my fiance for purchasing it)

Cool, but its missing some frets Lol, but only because I'm use to playing a 24 Fretter. To be honest my hearts already set, though my wallet would like to protest. This is the monster I'm getting.

Yeah, its only 22 frets which I originally complained about at first. I'm terrible at solo's so they don't really serve me that much purpose. My solo's come off sounding random like Slayer/Celtic Frost.. Just worse.

Nice guitar. How much damage will it do to your wallet? haha

I don't know yet - this particular model is yet to go on sale. Buts it's ESP signature series, based on Gus G from firewinds guitar, so more than £3000 ($6000)

I skipped Uni, and went straight into work, so I'm using the money my parents gave me to get this! Everyone who knows me thinks I'm knuts for doing this, but considering I try to put in a solid 2 hours practice most days it'll be worth it.
