I am very much so an avid Jackson fan never had any problems with my Jackson axes and i have owned quite a lot of guitars.i find that they have very good tone and action and i swear by the necks they feel perfect to me other than that Gibson!

I would go with Gibson over anything that is out there. I play a 79 Flying V custom... along with a 1983 Explorer... both have done me well. I have a Ibinez Iceman, but I fight with the sound I get every gig. My Gibbies are the ones that are reliable and true.

I have tried Deans, but they just were not what I was looking for tone wise.

deans kick arse!!!(the good ones not the razorbacks).. i think they are just as good as each other.. it all comes down to how much you want to spend... there are some awesome deans like the new dave mustaine models...the vendetta models...and the usa dean vees.... but they do churn out crap like the dime models......... gibsons are ok..(if you spend 2grand)........ if i was gonna buy another guitar id probaly get another ibanez... its fucking awesome

Both guitars are designed to sound completly different..the gibson has a shorter scale thus giving the gibson a more middy bass sound than a longer scaled guitar.

Comes down to what u prefer.

As far as best metal sounding guitars my guitars are the best...seriously..i have designed a guitar especially for metal sounds and to date i have yet to play or hear a better sounding guitar.....but im always open to a challenge.

Try them both and see which one you prefer. Personally I would prefer the gibson but I actually use washburn.

It is really impossible to tell you which brand of guitar to get. They are VERY different.

The best thing for you to do is to go to your local music store, and play every guitar there. Who knows, you might leave with a Fender

That said, have you looked into ESP/LTD?
