My kick-around live kit. Nothing extrodinary but looks decent with metallic red and lots of chrome and a little bit of customization.
I took 2 pacific kits and combined them since double bass kits are still harder to find, especially used. Added a few other needed pieces of the same brand. I prefer a little larger sized drums but these work fine for carting around with 22" bass drums and toms that only go to 16".
Basically copied the setup of my other kit with 4 toms, 2 basses and 7 cymbals, and 2 hi-hats (also a wood snare and a steel one), but tightened it up a bit so I can be sure to get it on most stages. I actually got it to be pretty compact from front to back. Most clubs have gotten too used to the renewed trend of having just one kick drum. Show up and they are like, "we only have one bass mic but well just throw some other mic on the other one". I hate that. The Eighties are not that far back that they cannot accomodate real metal kits with double basses. (Fuckin' nu-metal, metal-core, emo shit is wrecking the clubs).
You can just see the gong on the right of the pic and I have added a few lighting effects that set up pretty quickly.
It's not a very good pic but it's hard to get good ones of this new setup since I can't do it when playing and getting others to take pics isn't always easy and results are often less than desirable.
I can set it up or get it off stage in just 10 minutes which is pretty good but with the way they run club nights nowdays they always want it off quicker (the fate of not being a headliner...yet).
