Who wants to just chat about black metal? (Or just metal)

Hey there!

Just seeing if there are any other black mentalers out there. Anyway I'm just here to get chatting to others, taliking bollocks or whatever. In case it's of any interest, my favourite bands are:

Lust (from Canada)
Bathory
Venom
Sarcofago
early Mayhem
early Burzum
Sodom (especially the early stuff)
early Sepultura
Beherit
Blasphemy
Black Witchery (new album slays!!!!)
Possessed
Mercyful Fate
Capra Hircus

* Honourable mention:

Not black metal but I also love Usurper, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath an a load of old death bands like Carcass, Death, Morbid Angel. Hate all this new melodic death metal-apart from At the Gates.

I can't say that I really enjoy all that newer Cradle of Posers or Dimmu Shiteater crap (though they do follow their own path so that may be a little unfair). And I HATE Slipcock, Shitknot or whatever gay name they call themselves. Have you ever met these so called 'black metallers' who don't even know who Venom or Bathory are!!!? :x

Also I'd like to know if there are any other grim Brit black metal bands out there!!!

Well I don't have anything against Dimmu or Cradle, they're just doing their thing, although we can't call it pure black metal nowadays.

I remember first time I read Mayhem's bio, I thought it was just a made up story.......a guy shooting himself in the head, with a not "Excuse all the blood".
Attila is also returning to Mayhem. I am excited but not so much, I think that the newer stuff is still good, but after hearing De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, and then listening to a newer album, I would also say that they suck nowadays.

I also like the finnish band Behexen, they play raw black metal.....you might want to check it out.

BM is a bit more than just the music..

A virus crashed my comp. - actually i dont know how it broke through, but i contacted my friend who is a big comp. frak and he told me that there was no other way than to format my comp. - or however you see it. So i lost all my music i had and have to start all over again - few days ago i was planning to make a backup CD, but forgot...im so fucking smart..

Buy the CDs!!! I know you're broke but so am I!!! It's worth getting the records most of the time for the artwork alone! I mean with Black Witchery's new album you NEED the artwork. The same applies to all the earlier Iron Maiden albums and Black Sabbath Vol 4. It just would'nt be the same without the artwork man!!! Besides no offence, but if you can't be arsed to get up and FIND the records, then well... I guess I'm just a little bit old-school. Mind you downloading is good for a try before you buy type idea. Generally I just wait 'til I have the money then buy the cd's/vinyl/tapes. No offence but it just pisses me off when people just download and shit.

Oh yeah, hi Hellhammer (The Third of the Storms, Ha ha). Yeah I think I can agree with you on Mayhem and Cradle of Filth/Dimmu Borgir. Like I said I'm an old-school guy (which you can probably guess from my list above). I have heard Behexen but I cannot remember them too well. They were good though. Archgoat are another good Finnish band. I like all the early black metal personally. That and the new wave of more brutal chaotic black metal that's been doing the rounds recently-Thornspawn, Black Witchery, Capra Hircus, Lust, Impiety, Abominator and the like. Mind you I like Xasthur and Leviathan and all that atmospheric black metal. Some of it's totally gay Christian crap.

Actually speaking of which, any of you heard of Christian black metal!?! Excuse me but WHAT THE FUCK!?! We don'e want those assholes polluting our scene. I mean black metal is about sex, blood, pentagrams, Satan, alcohol and REBELLION!!!

(I always write essays when doing this sort of thing. Ha ha)

I dont think that BM is only about these things you mentioned here.

Havnt listened to any Christian BM bands, because i think its kinda odd and funny..are thay growling and singing that God is great etc..? - sounds pretty weird to me anyway and im not going to listen it and hopefully never will.

About buying CD's - yes i know the widely known truth that we should support metal bands by buying theyr albums etc. I know its true and im not saying that i download all my music - i have a lot of CD's that i have bought, but if I cant buy, then ill just download somewhere. And to be honest then there are lot of releases that you cant get anymore or are just sold out by the time you want to buy it.
