i don't think many people (apart from the most 'troo') would have a problem with someone being in a black metal bnd being publicly christian as long as they didn't sing about it in their music.
if i was christian and i wanted to start a black metal abnd there i no way i would sing about religion. but i wouldn't have a problem singing about satan just to stop our music being preachy and commercialising it. black metal doesn't have to be anti-christian but it should at least be not-pro-chrsitian (so a BM band made up of some chrsitian members can sing about lord of the rings or something like varg did)

THEY ALWAYS SEEM TO WRITE CHRISTIAN LYRICS!!!
I think it's more of a spirituality thing. I just feel that black metal should be Satanic/anti-Christian/Pagan. Even if I knew there were Christians in a black metal band, I still would be put off hearing it. I'll tell you what I think of Christianity and religion in general. It has been established through opression, exploited so that military leaders could get people to fight in their wars. I also feel that the Bible is full of contradictions that just don't make sense. There is also the inquisition who killed heretics-basically people who started forming their own ideas and thus oppressing those that begin thinking for themselves. And the same can be said about Christians in black metal. It's like putting ice cream on toast. It just does'nt fit.
Though I am not an elitist (most elitist's sound like wankers anyway) I am a traditionalist. Yes I think black metal should grow and there are great bands like Xasthur and Leviathan tking into new and really exciting directions!
I may try and check out Goatvulva nevertheless. Necrovore were a great demo band. I wish they'd hurry the fuck up and get on with the reunion! I need to find the Lord Diabolus demo and the early Lust demos!
Have'nt heard Calvarium by the way but I'll try and check 'em out. Finland is'nt the only place with great black metal! Australia's scene fucking crushes! Destroyer 666, Bestial Warlust, Destruktor, Abominator etc. The US and Canada have a great thing going too. I really recommend you track down Lust, Axis of Advance, Operation Winter Mist, Contagion Black, Conqueror, Revenge and BLASPHEMY!!!!  |

It might be for Western European people who have never seen the beauty of black metal and have never looked into a tunnel of upcoming news. But I don't talk about it because I have seen one or two masquerade about it, it is a part of metal, it is a part of his traditional inheritance and culture.i believe that you always had an intense relation to the good bargan too!

also, blasphemy and conqueror, and what ive heard of revenge and axis of advance (which isn't much) are alol very good. particularly blasphemy. ive played fallen angel of doom so many times now. if only i could get my hands on an official copy  |

You'll have to get in touch with CM Grymcraft. Unfortunatly I cannot access the site right now but if I remember correctly it's at www.geocities.com/contagionblack. You'll probably have to do a trade to get it I'm afraid but it's worth it. There is another Canadian band worth tracking down named Capra Hircus. I have NO IDEA where you can get the demo. I only got it after searching ebay, but they have apparantly got a split vinyl out with Morbid Upheaval (good band-can't remember what they sounded like but I checked out some mp3's and they were pretty good). I'll get back to you with contact details for them. |

and when you search for mp3s it just comes up with 'black dahlia murder' mp3s because they had a song called 'contagion' or something
