Besides no offence, but if you can't be arsed to get up and FIND the records, then well... I guess I'm just a little bit old-school. Mind you downloading is good for a try before you buy type idea. Generally I just wait 'til I have the money then buy the cd's/vinyl/tapes. No offence but it just pisses me off when people just download and shit.

Oh yeah, hi Hellhammer (The Third of the Storms, Ha ha). Yeah I think I can agree with you on Mayhem and Cradle of Filth/Dimmu Borgir. Like I said I'm an old-school guy (which you can probably guess from my list above). I have heard Behexen but I cannot remember them too well. They were good though. Archgoat are another good Finnish band. I like all the early black metal personally. That and the new wave of more brutal chaotic black metal that's been doing the rounds recently-Thornspawn, Black Witchery, Capra Hircus, Lust, Impiety, Abominator and the like. Mind you I like Xasthur and Leviathan and all that atmospheric black metal. Some of it's totally gay Christian crap.

Actually speaking of which, any of you heard of Christian black metal!?! Excuse me but WHAT THE FUCK!?! We don'e want those assholes polluting our scene. I mean black metal is about sex, blood, pentagrams, Satan, alcohol and REBELLION!!!

(I always write essays when doing this sort of thing. Ha ha)

Well I agree with everything what you just said. I also only download to hear what the band sounds like, and then search the cd. I also tried to convince people to buy the cd, but I have given up hope. So now I just say yeah go download or whatever. I live in a country where metal is not well known, I have to order everything online, and I pay more than what it actually costs on the site (with tax and shit).

Some of the bands you've mentioned I already know, the ones I don't know......well I will just check 'em out.
Call me old fashioned, but I don't think christianity should NOT be in black metal (or white metal or whatever they call themselves).
I want my black metal: anti-religious, evil, grim, necro.....and so on.
Imagine what a band like Emperor would be with christian lyrics, even if the music would be the same, I don't think they would've made the same impact.

I also like the band Barathrum, you might want to check it out.

theres nothing wrong with downloading music unless you believe that capitalism is an important part of making music good.

that said, i still hate these people that save their money and just downlaod everything. theres no excuse for that. even when i was a penniless school kid i saved the £3 i got eack week from my parents and some of my dinner money from school so i could buy cd's when icould. so theres absolutely no excuse for not buying any cd's at all and just downloading.

oh god. white metal. don't get me started on that. :P

call me narrow-minded but i would NEVER buy a christian black metal cd. because chrsitianity getting involved means that rather than make good music they want to make religion seem 'cool' by getting involved with some sub-culture that teenagers may be involved in. in this case in would be that christian black metal bands would be more worried about spreading their gospel (read: lies) to try and get impressionable teenagers involved and commercialize the scene. if the music genuinely was good then i would downlaod the cd but theres no chance i would support a concept like'chrsitian black metal'.

i don't mean to come across as some pompous elitist 'troo' black metaller. im not by any means. but i don't want to see a scene with such great music ruined by people trying to commercialise it to spread their religion.

You are totally right! I don't care if a christian black metal band got extremely good reviews evrywhere and it is a must have, I still won't buy it.
These christians want to put religion in everything, I'm so sick of it.

I agree with all of you on all counts about Christian black metal. Like I said, it's SATANIC/anti-Christian/Pagan music. NOT CHRISTIAN. I can't believe those assholes think we're stupid or gullible enough to go out and buy it BECAUSE it's black metal. Mind you it is NOT black metal in my opinion. They can piss off out of our scene. It was black metallers who BURNT DOWN CHURCHES!!! What do they do, build new ones under cover of darkness? (or should that be daylight)

UnholyMenace:With downloading it is a bummer when those bands release ULTRA limited stuff that you can't get. I will agree with you on many counts man. I just appreciate the artwork and I like the feeling of OWNING the record, be it cd, vinyl, cassette etc.

Hellhammer-Oh yeah, I've heard Barathrum. Have'nt got any of their music yet but it's crushing shit man. Impaled Nazarene rule too (prefer the earlier stuff though). Some other great Finnish bands are Uncreations Dawn, Hoath and a tonne of others I can't remember right now. There's that Beherit demo side project Goatvulva but I have no idea where to get it. AAAARGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!! Archgoat did a split with Beherit which you can get on amazon, but you can get a better cover on http://www.info-black.com/. The artwork is done by Chris Moyen (the Black Witchery guy-he did the first Beherit album too)Yes black metal should be NECRO-which is why I hate Cradle and Dimmu...as well as all the tiny fans you get who don't deserve to be in our scene!!!

Its great that there are still people who love real BM. I just think that if you have Dimmu or Cradle somewhere in your so called BM palylist then you have no idea what BM really is. People should listen more to those underground Bm acts that bring you the true essence of BM.

i had a goatvulva demo on mp3 but deleted it because it sucked. seriously, its complete shite. oh well, at least beherit were good. anyway, you won' be able to buy it anywhere. it may turn up on ebay or something but would be expensive so just download it (buying it off ebay wouldn't get any money for the band so they wouldn't care)

I crave black metal.I think the first actual BM song I heard was Det Som En Gang Var.I was blown away by that song. It's a fucking ingenious song....
Right now for my BM requirements i mainly listen to Drudkh,Vermeth,Tenebrosus,Todtgelichter,Velvet Cocoon and Xasthur....
About Christians entering the scene....i think its okay for Christians to be a PART of a BM band. But they shouldn't try and write christian lyrics or something....sing about something other than satan...that's allright in BM.I don't mind listening to BM, where a christian is singing about sex or drugs or whatever the fuck else.BUT, if he tries to fucking preach some shit through his music, that just stinks..... :x
