I couldn't stand Dead as a vocalist, but Maniac also was pretty decent on Deathcrush and Wolf's Lair Abyss

Yes. I think he's one of the few vocalists in the genre that is actually capable of doing a number of different types of things with his vocals. Ordo rules. His performance on that LP is absolutely amazing. His work with Sunno))) is just as amazing.

To each his own, but I still think that if Dead were alive, people wouldn't care half as much.

Yeah, it was just the time period in which Dead did vocals. He was one of the first vocalist that was 100% into what he sang. It's not that surprising by today's standards though.

And Atilla's work with Sunn O))) is great. His vocals for everything he did was pretty unique for the most part, even if the bands and music itself wasn't that good

For me it has to be Dead, i dont mind Attila on live shows and Ordo Ad Chao but i just couldnt get into his vocals on De Mysteriis, ashame aswell as its my fav Mayhem album.

Maniac has the best shriek I think. Attila is a failed art-fag and his live vocals are terrible

For me it has to be Dead. Honestly though I cannot stand Maniac and I haven't been a fan of Mayhem for quite some time. In my opinion they are one of the most overrated bands in the genre.

Seeing as Attila is my favorite metal vocalist, I'm going to go with him. The two albums he did with Mayhem are their best, and up there as two of the greatest black metal albums of all time.

I will not rant about Attila too much in this thread, seeing as i have plenty of more space to praise his vocals/ideas, but i will say that it's totally understandable for a Mayhem kvltist to prefer Dead over his work. Attila never truly fit in with the stereotypical Mayhem-sound, so it makes sense for a diehard Mayhem fan to like Dead, or yes, even Maniac.

Note that I'm saying this from my own mind, and that I'm not the biggest fan of Mayhem outside of Ordo and DMDS...
