What does everyone think of Burzum's ambient music?

As the title suggests, I want to know your thoughts on the last two Burzum albums as well as the ambient stuff he did on the earlier albums. The earlier albums are a little better when it comes to this stuff but the latter stuff is a little dissapointing. Hlidskjalf was ok I suppose though I find track 4, Die Liebe Nerous' hillariously funny. It just reminds me of those 80's fantasy videogames with that really simple music. Though some of the tracks are quite effective.

They're not too bad.. Unfortunately I lost those last two albums

... But I remember one track.. sounding medieval and stuff.. I didn't mind that track :P

The ambient albums aren't bad and I think they are better than any of folk metal bands albums.....

Personally I quite like folk metal.

Apparantly there are some other bands that did similar stuff on the same label. The only one I can think now is Reich but there's a couple more on Misanthropy I can't remember now. I enjoy the ambient music though to be honest there are probably other bands that do something similar but better. Sometimes the songs could be a little repetative or even laughable but sometimes I think it really worked! Vond/earlier Mortiis albums are pretty good too.

i read by a few people that Burzum was so influential and great.i bought one of their c.d.'s and was very disappointed.i at least expected guitars.

In my opinion the ambient tracks from their earlier albums were better but I like ambient music anyway so I do like the latter albums too.

I don't like anything Varg did after Filosifem. Some of that stuff is just him ploinking away on a Casio. I dislike ambient or techno stuff anyway, and I love folk metal.

Folk metals great!

I like ambient music personally but there's better out there than the Burzum stuff! But the albums aren't bad but I prefer the really early stuff!

Well being a fan of ambient music I quite enjoyed these albums, though interesting to think would he have made these if he hadn't gone to jail, though interestingly I read that Varg actually recorded all the albums (but distributed in different years) up to Filosofem in the same year, so he must have known which direction he was going to take.
