I enjoy both older and newer Dimmu Borgir. I must say that it annoys me to death when I hear a fan of extreme music say they hate newer Dimmu Borgir and love older Dimmu Borgir. Just because they are more well known and aren't TR00 and KVLT doesn't mean they produce terrible music. So many people only hate Dimmu Borgir because they aren't KVLT which is fucking retarded. Get the fuck over yourselfs, if your a fan of this type of music, you'll like them.

dimmu borgir should be in the gothic metal thread and so should cradle of filth. these bands are NOT black metal.

In my opinion, Dimmu Borgir's old stuff is lame and boring. I don't care whether or not it's true, I just don't like it. And though I wouldn't call myself a Dimmu fan, their newer stuff is definetly more worthwhile than their older.
Does anyone else like their newer stuff better? | I personnaly do. I find the older stuff quite boring and uninteresting. On the contrary I like the 4 last album very much and the way they mix black metal to more heavy sounds and some real thrash rhythms.
And I still can't imagine how Dimmu can be compared to Cradle... I can't hear anything to justify it, and I never found anything interesting in Cradle's music.

It's possible that you like them, but that doesn't mean everybody else have to think they're good. Their early stuff was all right, but because they have been selling out I refuse to listen to anything from them. They don't deserve that attention. |

I find the early stuff pretty boring actually. Other bands like Nokturnal Mortum are better at the symphonic thing! |
