My favorite Bathory albums are the viking ones, but to pick an only one is very hard... maybe Twilight of the gods for it's the first one I heard about 15 years ago now.

Probably Under the Sign of the Black Mark is the most well rounded good one of the black era. The Return... is however more evil.

As for the Viking albums I'd say Hammerheart.

But I'm pissed off about that compilation CD. There are so many unreleased tracks from the Occulta/Okkulta sessions and the Malificarum/Necronomicon sessions as well as other unreleased tapes that deserve to see the light of day! What the fuck is going on!?
