Suicidal Tendencies

Been playing Saints Row on the Xbox 360 and it reminds me of the whole Suicidal Tendencies image. I went to make a post and noticed there is no thread for Suicidal so I thought I'd better start one.

Their first two albums and their last few years are hardcore / crossover punk but during their best years they played brilliant thrash metal.

From the very beginning the band looked just like the "gang bangers" in Sants Row. They were mixed white, black & Hispanic and wore Bandanas, baggies (baggy jeans / cargo pants), skater shorts, check shirts with just the top button done up and singing about "being down OG" (original gangster). Not because they were trying to be that image but because of where they were from. They are from Venice, in California which I believe is very similar to the fictional Stilwater in Saints Row.

Suicidal were another exceptionally good group to see live. I'm not sure what they are like now or whether they are still going. Its a shame they went back to doing punk. Their last couple of metal albums were a bit shabby compared to their classics.

Have you heard the albums "How can I laugh tomorrow" & "Controlled by Hatred"?

They are good if you are into classic thrash.

I can remember seeing ST live on the "clash of the titans" tour with Megadeth & Slayer double headlining. What a concert. Robert Trujillo was in the group then. My friend was ill so the security let him sit in a non-public area. I popped in to see him and by chance we met Robert Trujillo & Mike Muir.
ST are great live.

Suicidal rules. prefer their hardcore punk output though.
