Default New Thrash vs. Old School

So I've noticed the rise in thrash metal resently and some of the new shit is pretty good.

Yeah, some of it is indeed pretty good. I don't really have a preference for sub-groups of metal to be honest. Any and all metal I'll listen to at least once.

There are some good new ones (which my band is attempting to be) but the old ones are defintly better.

municipal waste and toxic holocaust definatly fly the flag for the new scene. i think what makes them interesting is the fact they have their own identity, unlike other modern thrash such as evile who just live i the shadow of the past.

Its all about the old school! Man, how can you get better than Metallica, Morbid Saint and such. The only new thrash band I really like is Mutant.

oh yeah the old thrash is best ALWAYS. i just think modern thrash is better when it doent try to recreate that feel too much.

Old school is better and has way more variety.

Having said that there are some new albums which would easily be considered classics if released 1985-1990... Violators Chemical Assault springs instantly to mind.

Toxic Lollercaust and Municipal Waste etc are utterly meh, though.

theres nothing wrong with toxic holocaust and municipal waste! no theyre not as good as the old bands but they injected the fun back into a dying genre!
