ULVER - BLOOD INSIDE
Experimental or 'Avant-Garde' music pretty much results in something that is either loved or hated. sadly, Ulver's latest album falls into the latter category. As much as I want to praise it for being different, the most important thing is how enjoyable it is to listen to and it gets tedious after say... 30 seconds.
The thing is, if a band is very experimental with their music, but still remember that the top priority is sounding good, it can be great. But this seems to get lost in the making of the album with most bands. Ulver probably started of wanting to make an atmospheric album that sounds a bit out of the ordinary. But ended up with something that could potentially be very atmospheric if you can get past the fact it sounds so comical.
The vocals are clean, but faint and hard to hear. the music is often interrupted (I say 'interrupted' because it seems so out of place) with ambient segments, and background tunes that would make a good intro to an cheaply made cartoon. Track 8 has a phone ringing in the background throughout the 6 minute track for apparently no reason because it adds nothing to the music at all. Track 4 sounds like the kind of rubbish you would get if you bought an ambient compilation from a supermarket on the basis that it was cheap and had a nice picture of a dolphin on the cover. Track 9 seems to be 4 TV programmes playing over the top of each other. All this stuff may be "Avant Garde" but still boring.
Of course, my opinion doesn't matter though. The wonderful thing about these experimental albums is that if someone says they don't like it, the band and their fans can simply shrug off their opinion as "not getting it".
Worth downloading one or two tracks purely for its what-the-fuck factor but not worth paying for. Possibly this would have been interesting 10 years ago but with so many bands crossing over nowadays and being weird for the sake of being weird, its not interesting in the slightest.
2/10

| | if people want to hear a few songs from it they can easily go to a hub or limewire or whatever. im sure anyone whos interested will download a track 0r 2 from there or go to the official website. so please avoid copy+pasting worthless info from other websites into every thread you post in. because it pisses off people who actually discuss music. |

And you can't criticize my writing even if you can't talk seemingly/apparently[note in what way i have written "grammatical"correctly, and you didn't] When moderators want cut out this thread thus, you will hush up,because i have written it and i'm already worried If someone wants adding a new post on my review then it will be even better to some feedback even though if it's not by much.hè hè it's crammed full with boomers.it's your message and i have corrected it.
