Nu-metal is defined as hard-rock played usually in dropped d, with rapping, or hip-hoppish beats. There. That's what it is. Bands in this category would be Limp Bizkit,Linkin Park, (early) Disturbed,Clawfinger... Without the rapping or hip-hop elements it's just hard rock.

Yes, I think ppl out the true metal that try to classify new sounds, call it nu-metal in a chance of beeing "cool", but nu-metal IS NOT metal at all.

I agree with everyone who has mentioned the influences of rap and hip hop, because that does seem to be the case with most of these bands. How can they call themselves anything to do with metal with all that shit going on? Rap/hip hop are NOT types of metal and should therefore not be fused in with them.

Nu metal is the genre under which I would class bands like Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit etc. And I noticed that no one has mentioned the fact that in the lyrics, they pick one line and repeat this, over and over AND OVER AGAIN... *yawns*

Haha, I can't remember which music mag I read this in, but apparently Slipknot are a 'death metal combo'. Slipknot? Death metal?!

I don't hate Slipknot, they're okay in small doses, it's just that they are NOT death metal as I have heard them being described once or twice.
