As a whole, I don't really rate the stuff coming out of France. I think Germany, Denmark, Finland and Ukrania etc have put out MUCH better quality bands in recent times. I only really like Mutilation and Deathspell Omega in doses. . .the rest is Myeh to me.

I think its their accent, and the whole "city of love" bullshit. Thats enough for me to not be able to take them seriously. Especially when there is so much better stuff out there IMO.

The language is gay indeed, but some bands manage to give it a cool turn...
I like Stille Volk too, but it's just folk from France in the original language of Carcassonne

Some of the great bands I like includes Mutiilation, Blut Aus Nord, Hell Mililtia, (early) Deathspell Omega, Belketre, Arkhon Infaustus, Antaeus.
