Default What's up with Cradle Of Filth?

Why does everyone like this band!? I don't know about you, but where I live everyone likes this band. I think they suck for mainly only one reason, Dani Filth. His singing stlye is aweful and just annoying. People around here say that there the greatest band of alltime when they like Hawthorne Hieghts and Green Day. I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick of this band.

Well Jake, theres a COF trend around the whole world.

How?

COF are on the same record company as Slipknot and Nickelback, Slipknot and Nickelblack promote Roadrunner Records, Roadrunner Records promote COF.

Cradle of Filth is an over-exposed "cult" band. I don't hate them and I like some of their songs (some songs from Nymphetamine are listenable), but that's far from saying they're the best ever. Probably many noobs are listening to COF as their only extreme metal band. Maybe they don't fancy the oldschool harsh black metal, so they listen to COF and think they're cool enough then or something.. I dunno, haha.

I fucking hate Gaydle of Filth. I'm ashamed that they are the main representation of black metal for Britain other than Venom. Right now when people think of Brit BM they think of them. They're just boring. I can stand their music but its very off putting when Blink 182 or Green Day fans put that shit on too. At least they're better than Shitknot but yeah I hate Cradle of Posers too.

you mean why does everyone hate this band, right? because i rarely hear a good thing about them.

if only more people could make a subjective opinion on them rather than following the trends. teenagers loving them for their cool, rebbellious image. black metal fans hating them for being commercial. how many people actually take the time to listen to them before making up their mind?

money hungry posers or not, some of their stuff pisses over 95% of black metal. whats better? an underground darkthrone rip-off that remains "true" or a band that sells-out but consistently produces albums full of fresh ideas and quality song-writing?

im a big black metal fan but i would choose cradle of filth over most black metal.

Most people have only heard things from Nymphetamine and Damnation and a Day. The oldest stuff is the best. I've got their first demos, and most their albums (all except the live ones, I think).

It was SHOCKING when Nymphetamine was released. Probably 2 or 3 good songs on that album.

Try listening to the best stuff, like one of the best songs "Black Goddess Rises II" , from the Bitter Suites to Succubi album.

Yeah, but that song was just a redone version of an older song wasn't it? I don't actually have all of Principle Of Evil Made Flesh and I don't have that particular song. I think some of their old stuff is ok, and less, but some of their new stuff is listen-to-able as long as you don't listen to it too often.

They released a demo version of the rehearsal. They then made The Black Goddess Rises on the "Total Fucking Darkness" demo.
On their first album (Principals..) they released a few songs, then years later on Bitter Suites... they included some remastered versions of songs from the Principals... album. Includeing Black Goddess Rises (now part II).

Ahh ok then, that explains it. When I got Bitter Suites To Succubi, I noticed three old songs on there. That album is supposed to be an EP, but I think it's too album-ish to be an EP. I mean, 10 tracks is a bit more extended than an already extended record.
