What Genre Would These Bands Fall Into?

Isis
Neurosis
Cult of Luna
Callisto

ive heard these bands described as 'noisecore' but i don't like that term seeing as its been used to describe so many different styles like more extreme hardcore (converge, tdep) and extreme grind like meta shits. ive also heard these abnds described as metalcore which is stupid and an insult to the bands.

anyone want to try and label them?

Isis and Cult of Luna are for sure members of the doom Genre. Neurosis I think might have some sludgish elements, but can't really classify them and I havent heard the last band.

@mourn: callisto are similar to cult of luna. i called cult of luna doom on another forum ages ago and 2 people got really pissy about it. they said it was 'noisecore' (but they didn't tell me what the hell noisecore' means).

i know wat MA says and i asked here because MA gets its facts wrong a lot (seeing as it relies on people submitting info). CoL don't use any drone in their music in any sense of the word. they are too lively to be described as 'drone' and they don't use any bass drone in their music (like sunn o, torture wheel, crematorium).

callisto are not 'sludge doom' either. do they sound like iron monkey?

speaking of metal archives, the website is down at the moment but i just got an e-mail from the site telling me that i band i submitted was accepted. weird

Those bands are part of a new wave of metal which hasn't a certain name yet. A metal magazine I own classified them as "extreme ambient music", and that has a point...
