What to do with the forums.

Ok, heres the situation...

Im currently in a battle with the thief who has stolen the login info for the domain name www.metal-forums.net . Since i could not edit anything, the downtime occured as they tried to redirect the domain name to a different host. (Our previous one)...

Now, i could battle it out with him and most probably get it all back, but this will risk some more downtime.

OR

I could transfer the whole site to a new domain name, IE Anothermetalname.net and not lose a post or member, and everything will be the same, just www.metal-forums.net would be a different name...

Whats your thoughts??

Again, im sorry about the downtime.. But the problem was sad, and unavoidable.

I would vote for the second solution.

In case I can create a free address like forums.heavymetaluniverse.com and redirect the url to the one which is hosting the forums. Besides, visitors would still be able to access the forums using www.heavymetaluniverse.com > forums section.

That way we could save the database. I think it's important.

Well there is no way to lose the DB, or the files, as its backed up every day...

Ill be using another .net or .com domain for the transfer. But im still in the process of talking with the idiots responsible.

Oh, so that's what happened? I just made a post in the 'Site Was Down' thread wondering where you'd been for the last few months.

Well, I think the second option. You can make it so that you can type in www.metal-forums.net but then it changes into www.somethingelse.net can't you? I think that's what ludo said but I didn't really understand it that much, lol.

Man that metalthrone is appealing... consider it done i say...

In the next few days this domain will be redirecting to a new domain..

EVERYTHING will be the same. For those of you who havent seen this, just type in metal-forums.net and itll take you to where we all are..

Nothing will be different so dont worry.
